BlackBerry was once the go-to device for professionals who needed to send emails on the move. But as Apple and Samsung flooded the market with touchscreen phones, the fingertip-friendly, clicky keyboard soon got crowded out.

But did you know that BlackBerry still keeps you connected while dashing around?

CEO John Giamatteo reveals in our exclusive video that the 40-year-old company’s pivot to software is putting their products in more than our pockets.

“Our QNX real-time operating system powers over 275 million cars around the world today,” Giamatteo says.

And it’s not only vehicles that BlackBerry is involved with. “We’ve adapted our QNX operating system to work with robots, medical instrumentation and industrial automation. We are really investing in emerging technologies and opportunities,” he adds.

BlackBerry has recently been increasing its presence in the Gulf. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the UAE to help with cybersecurity, and Giamatteo says they are proud to be a part of what is happening in the Middle East.

“We love the region. It’s a custom fit to what we do as a company. It’s very dynamic,” he says.

“There’s a lot of concern about communications, and that’s where we come in.”
