A British woman was shot dead in Texas after arguing with her father about President Donald Trump, witnesses told an inquest this week.

According to the BBC, police in Prosper, Texas, investigated the death of Lucy Harrison after she was shot in January 2025 as a possible case of manslaughter, but no charges were ever brought.

Lucy Harrison's boyfriend, Sam Littler, told an inquest in Britain this week that she had a "big argument" with her father, Kris Harrison, about Trump on the day that she died. She had traveled to Texas to visit with her father for the holidays when the shooting occurred.

Although he did not attend the inquest, Kris Harrison admitted in a statement that he had about 500ml of white wine that day.

Littler told the inquest that Lucy Harrison had asked her father on the day of the argument: "How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation and I'd been sexually assaulted?"

"Kris Harrison had replied that he had two other daughters who lived with him, so it would not upset him that much," the BBC reported.

Lucy Harrison ran upstairs because her father's remark made her "quite upset," Littler said.

Littler recalled hearing a "loud bang" after his partner ran upstairs.

"I remember running into the room, and Lucy was lying on the floor near the entrance to the bathroom, and Kris was just screaming, just sort of nonsense," Littler said.

Kris Harrison's statement said that he had gone upstairs to show his daughter his gun, which he bought after moving to Texas for a "sense of security."

"As I lifted the gun to show her, I suddenly heard a loud bang. I did not understand what had happened. Lucy immediately fell," the statement said.

A coroner was expected to testify at the close of the hearing on Wednesday.

The announcement by America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), which includes CVS Health’s Aetna, Humana, Cigna, Centene and an array of Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans as members, comes ahead of the first meeting of the reconstituted Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which now has new members chosen by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a vaccine critic. “Health plans are committed to maintaining and ensuring affordable access to vaccines,” AHIP said in a statement Wednesday. “Health plan coverage decisions for immunizations are grounded in each plan’s ongoing, rigorous review of scientific and clinical evidence, and continual evaluation of multiple sources of data.” The move by AHIP is good news for millions of Americans at a time of year when they flock to drugstores, pharmacies, physician’s offices and outpatient clinics to get their seasonal flu and Covid shots. Kennedy’s changes to U.S. vaccine policy have created confusion across the country over whether certain vaccines long covered by insurance would continue to be. AHIP has now provided some clarity for millions of Americans. “Health plans will continue to cover all ACIP-recommended immunizations that were recommended as of September 1, 2025, including updated formulations of the COVID-19 and influenza vaccines, with no cost-sharing…
