NVIDIA GTC 2026 Kicks Off March 16 With AI Infrastructure Focus

Jensen Huang's keynote will unveil Vera Rubin architecture details as NVDA trades at $185.52. Here's what traders should watch from San Jose.

NVIDIA GTC 2026 Kicks Off March 16 With AI Infrastructure Focus

NVIDIA's annual GTC conference returns to San Jose March 16-19, with CEO Jensen Huang set to deliver what could be the company's most consequential keynote in years. The event comes as NVDA trades at $185.52, up 1.37% in the past 24 hours, with market cap sitting at $4.55 trillion.

Huang takes the stage Monday at 11 a.m. PT at the SAP Center, where he'll address 30,000 in-person attendees from 190 countries. The keynote streams free on nvidia.com for those not making the trek to California.

What's Actually on the Table

The company is expected to detail mass production timelines and capabilities for its next-generation Vera Rubin architecture. For traders, this is the main event. Any specifics on yields, pricing, or customer commitments could move the stock.

Huang's presentation will span what NVIDIA calls its five-layer AI stack: energy, chips, infrastructure, models, and applications. The "gigawatt" language in official materials signals continued focus on AI factory buildouts—data centers measured in power consumption rather than server counts.

The Supporting Cast

Monday's pregame kicks off at 8 a.m. PT with CEOs from Perplexity, LangChain, Mistral, Skild AI, and OpenEvidence. That's a deliberate mix of inference, agent frameworks, and open-source model players.

Wednesday brings a panel Huang will moderate on open versus closed models, featuring LangChain's Harrison Chase alongside executives from A16Z, AI2, Cursor, and Thinking Machines Lab. The open model debate has real implications for NVIDIA's software ecosystem play.

Tuesday's schedule includes Dario Gil, now Undersecretary at the Department of Energy, discussing AI in climate research at 9 a.m. PT. Universal Music Group's Sir Lucian Grainge appears at 2 p.m. PT—an unusual booking that suggests NVIDIA sees media and entertainment as a growth vertical.

Recent Context

The conference follows a busy stretch for NVIDIA. The company announced a $2 billion investment in AI cloud firm Nebius on March 11, and disclosed a partnership with telecom providers for open 6G networks on March 2. Q4 fiscal 2026 results dropped March 3.

More than 700 sessions, 150 researcher posters, and 70-plus hands-on training labs round out the week. Registration code GTC26-20 gets 20% off for anyone still deciding.

The conference wraps Thursday afternoon. Any Vera Rubin production updates or major customer announcements from the keynote will likely hit before markets open Tuesday.

Respondents also showed low trust in traditional finance systems, indicating that the interest in DeFi is partly motivated by dissatisfaction with the status quo Out of those who are pro-DeFi, 84% said they’d use it to make purchases online, 78% would use it to pay bills, and 77% would save money through it Less than half of Americans have “complete” or “a lot of trust” in either large national banks (40%) or regional banks (43%) A survey by the DeFi Education Fund (DEF) shows that 42% of Americans say they would try decentralized finance (DeFi) if proposed legislation is passed into law. That 42% breaks down into about 9% who are “extremely or very likely” and about 33% who are “somewhat likely” to use DeFi under a clearer legal framework. Respondents also showed low trust in traditional finance systems, indicating that the interest in DeFi is partly motivated by dissatisfaction with the status quo. Additionally, the survey revealed that out of those who are pro-DeFi, 84% said they’d use it to make purchases online, 78% would use it to pay bills, and 77% would save money through it. The survey points out that confidence in traditional financial institutions is getting weaker, with widespread skepticism about their ability to serve the average person. For instance, only 49% of US citizens feel the current US financial system meets their needs, and a mere 25% believe it’s structured to benefit ordinary people.  This widespread distrust seems to be reflected in public confidence as well.
